Sunday, February 2 - Vision Boards Workshop

Sunday, February 2nd I'm teaching a Vision Board Workshop. I created the class because I kept bumping into people who wanted to create a Vision Board but never had the supplies or the time to get one completed. I always take that to be a sign of where my next focus should be, so I created this class.

It's been 6 years of classes, lovely people and vision boards
and I absolutely love this class.

Each year we have a few people return from previous years to share their stories
and we introduce new people to the process.  I am so inspired by what people create and
what shows up in their lives after the class.

I'm in the process of completing my own vision board for class and I'm so excited to see what the new year will bring.

There are still few seats available in Sunday's Class
Please join us.

Artist I Love ... Belinda Fireman

I discovered Belinda Fireman's work while surfing Instagram for amazing artists.  I saw her art and was completely taken by her color choices  and the shapes and symbols she uses in her work.  There is a freedom and a power to each of her pieces that I absolutely adore.

Today I visited her blog to see what she's working on and I discovered that she posted a video of herself developing an art piece on canvas. I have watched the video at least 3 times and I am completely inspired. To watch her move through the spaces of artistic creation in real time is powerful. There is so much freedom, trust, acceptance, joy and faith in her creative process.

Watching this video reminded me to be present for my own creative work and accept all the spaces I go through as I move through the creative process.  There is beauty in the process as well as the result.

If you are interested in seeing an artist at work, check out her video or visit her site at http://belindafireman.wordpress.com/

The Documented Life: Week 1 & 2

The Documented Life.

We've just completed the 2nd week of the Documented Life project and I'm struggling to find the time to document my life in the journal. I had big dreams of writing down interesting things each day and documenting special moments. I even thought I'd have time to sketch a bit on each day. That was clearly too ambitious and reality has stepped in again.

So I've enjoyed doing what I can by playing with color and adding bits of paper and to my pages.  This has given way to a bit of inspiration to clear out my studio. I'm even finding ways to use my stash. I'm realizing its perfect just the way it is.  I'm documenting my life by staying in the project, doing what I can do and accepting how the process is working for me.

So the mantra of the week is "Be Gentle"

Favorite Art Resources

I get inspiration from collecting art supplies.  I love collecting new supplies and bits of ephemera to use in a potential future project.  It gives me a chance to experiment in my work and discover new techniques.

I'm often asked what supplies do I like to use in my work and I often forget or the supply I'm using is so creatively loved that I no longer have the original box with the original labels.  To remedy that, I've collected some of my favorite books, art and storage supplies in an Amazon store (Listed below).  It's a really quick way for me to list the exact products I use in my art for those of you who are interested. You can purchase directly from the Amazon store or you can make a list and look for the items in your local art supply store.

I'll add and remove supplies from time to time, so check back often and let me know if you have any favorite supplies you love.

Preparation: Vision Board for 2014

I'm in the process of putting together my Vision Board for 2014. I'm really inspired to take on learning things I thought I would never learn. Things I always wanted to learn but gave up learning long time ago.  This is the year to brush off those intentions and attempt learning something new.

Some ideas that I'm tossing around are ..
  • Finally learn how to navigate and connect on Twitter
  • Brush up on my french.
  • Start learning Spanish, particularly after I was so lost in Puerto Vallarta last year on vacation.
I'll be thinking about these ideas, looking for images that reflect the intention and adding them to my Vision Board for 2014.

Are you working on a Vision Board for 2014?

Joining the Documented Life Project ..

It's the start of a new year and I am joining The Documented Life Project with Roben-Marie Smith Lorraine Bell , Rae MissigmanSandi Keene , and 100's of other creative folks who will be documenting, photographing, painting, collaging,  journaling, and planning their creative year.

I started journaling weekly last year so this year will be fun to do my journaling with a group and focusing on particular themes each week.

This is the cover of my journal at this point. I'm sure I will add more as the year progresses.

Work of Heart, San Jose, California

This workshop will provide a peaceful space to create your vision board for the year. We will explore the role of vision boards in goal setting and discuss how journaling can support you in the process! I will guide you through a series of steps that I have learned over years of creating vision boards of my own.  You will be given time to select images and create a vision board of your own.

I will also give you the opportunity to practice a valuable journaling process to help you capture any inspired ideas that might lead you to your goal. I call this process "Idea catching" and I will share with you the process of capturing your inspired actions in an idea journal.  This journal is unique in that it holds every wild idea, clue, phone number, map, and quote that will lead you to your goal. These journals have been extremely powerful in capturing inspired actions that result from focusing on my vision boards and has lead me to solutions and surprising results.
